Cooktop Repair — Book a Visit Today

Cooktops fail in ways you notice mid-dinner. A gas burner clicks and clicks but never lights. An electric coil stays cold on one side. A glass smoothtop shows an error code and shuts the whole surface down. Induction elements buzz, then quit. Common culprits are worn igniters, cracked spark modules, failed radiant elements, bad infinite switches, and control boards that took a spill. Salt air near the shore eats wiring and burner caps faster than most people expect, and hard-water boil-overs leave scale that blocks gas ports. Our visit starts with the burner that misbehaves, then the power and gas supply behind it. We test, explain what we found, and give you the repair options. Call us — evenings work for commuters.

Cooktop Repair — residential cooktop being serviced

The cooktop symptoms we hear most

  • It clicks forever but won't light Igniter, spark module, or clogged burner ports
  • One burner is dead, the rest are fine Failed radiant element, broken switch, or loose terminal connection
  • The flame is yellow and sooty Air-to-gas mixture, blocked port, or wrong orifice for your fuel
  • My glass top flashes a code and shuts off Control board fault or a sensor reading heat wrong
  • Burner heats full blast no matter the knob Infinite switch stuck closed or a shorted relay

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Confirm the breaker for the cooktop hasn't tripped, and reset it once if it has.
  • 2Lift off the burner caps and grates and check for spilled food packed into the gas ports.
  • 3Make sure knobs are pushed fully onto their stems, since a loose knob won't turn the switch.
  • 4On a smoothtop, wipe away burnt sugar or scale and see if the surface still reports an error.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us what it's doing

Describe the noise, the leak, the error code on the panel. Brand and rough age help too. We use that to bring likely parts on the first trip instead of guessing in your kitchen.

  2. Step 2

    Pick a window that works

Many of our neighbors leave before sunrise and get home after six. We schedule around trains and traffic, including later slots, so nobody burns a vacation day waiting on a repair van.

  3. Step 3

    Diagnose, then repair

Our technician tests the machine, finds the failed part, and explains what's wrong in plain words. You approve the work before anything gets replaced. Most repairs finish during that same visit.

Cooktop Repair — quick answers

Do you work on gas, electric, and induction cooktops?

Yes, all three. Gas usually means igniters, valves, or blocked ports. Electric means elements and switches. Induction means power boards and cooling fans. Tell us which type you have when you call us so we bring likely parts.

Can a cracked glass cooktop be repaired?

A cracked surface isn't patchable. The glass is the safety barrier over live elements, so it needs replacing. We check whether the replacement panel is still available for your model, and we test the elements underneath while we're in there.

Why does my burner keep clicking after it lights?

Usually moisture or spilled liquid bridging the spark electrode, or a spark module stuck in a firing loop. Clean and dry the area first. If the clicking continues, the igniter or module needs testing. Turn the burner off and call us.

Is a gas smell always an emergency?

Treat it that way. Shut the gas valve, open windows, skip light switches, and leave. Contact your gas utility first. Once they clear the home, we can look at the valve, regulator, or burner assembly that caused it.

Do you repair the cooktop separately from a wall oven?

Often yes. Many Long Island kitchens have a separate cooktop and a built-in oven, which are two different appliances. If yours is a slide-in range, the cooktop and oven share controls, and we diagnose the whole unit together.

How long does a typical cooktop visit take?

Most diagnoses take under an hour. If the failed part is a common igniter, element, or switch, we often finish the same visit. Special-order boards and glass panels mean a second trip once the part lands.

Why homeowners call us

  • Salt air is factored inCoastal humidity eats at terminals, brackets, and control boards. We look for corrosion behind the panel, not just the obvious broken part. Cleaning and protecting connections helps the repair hold up through another damp winter.
  • Hard water knowledgeScale clogs dishwasher spray arms, coats heating elements, and stiffens water valves. When your dishes come out gritty or the washer fills slowly, mineral buildup is often the culprit. We check for it every time.
  • Wide service areaHomeowners across six Northeastern states reach us for laundry, kitchen, and cooling repairs. Refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ovens, ranges, and cooktops. One number to call whichever appliance quit on you.
  • Straight talk on old unitsSometimes a repair makes clear sense. Sometimes the machine is worn past the point of value, and we say so. You get an honest read on the condition before deciding to fix or replace.
  • All major brands, gas & electricWhirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and more — as an independent repair company.
  • Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so — often on the phone.
